What's going on in Philly?Seek out scares, spooks and screams at a terrifying Halloween attraction Halloween also means it’s time to bid a gory goodbye to many of the region’s haunted houses and scary attractions. This week, hop on the last frightfully fun twilight tour of The Betsy Ross House (Thursday) and the final candlelight ghost tours of South Philly’s Fort Mifflin (Friday and Saturday). And, if you dare, fit in some sizable-yet-still-safe scares during the last days of South Philly’s Fright Factory (through Saturday), as well as Yardley’s HorrorFest at Shady Brook Farm and Glen Mills’ Bates Motel (both through Sunday). Find more ways to get scared in our guide to scariest Halloween attractions on visitphilly.com. Embrace the best of fall during harvest celebrations It’s the last chance for quintessential autumn activities as harvest celebrations across Greater Philadelphia come to a close. (Say it ain’t so!) Cast your vote at the Scarecrows in the Village display in Peddler’s Village (ends Saturday); hop on a hayride and pick pumpkins at FallFest at Shady Brook Farm (ends Saturday), and sip seasonal brews and carve pumpkins on the final weekend of Morgan’s Pier’s Fall Fest (ends Sunday). Plus, countryside spots like Milky Way Farm, Snipes Farm and Merrymead Farm serve up a final dose of fun in the pumpkin patch. Our guide to this season’s harvest celebrations offers even more autumnal inspiration. Find fun, frightening films (and a film fest)
Do you prefer your scares in 2D instead of 3D? The brand-new Movies on Broad programming screens 14 films in five days (!) during its “Fright Week” shown on the scoreboard inside the Wells Fargo Center (Wednesday to Sunday); West Fairmount Park’s Philly Drive-In shows Beetlejuice (Wednesday and Friday) as well as Halloween II (in a special late-night screening on Friday); the PFS Drive-In screens ’80s cult classics The Monster Squad and Deadline (with two accompanying shorts) both on Halloween night at The Navy Yard; and King of Prussia’s Parking Lot Horrors offers The Ring (Friday), The Grudge (Saturday) and Goonies (Sunday). And cinephiles can catch the Philadelphia Film Festival, which continues through November 2 with drive-in showings every night at The Navy Yard.
